The numerous members of the Task Force met this am from 10:00 to 11:30 am. I was
honored to introduce myself representing LATINAS WIN and spoke about our work with
Latinx Truman Elementary School students and OU students. I mentioned Ellen Kraft
as the main teacher of MOSAICOS and as the NPS person selected as the Teacher of the Year. The NPS Superintendent was present at the meeting.
I was able to mention some of the points that you wanted me to include. We each had
a limited time to speak. However most spoke about mental health services and how those
need to be present in schools, in prisons, with those with addictions, etc. I know that some
of you wanted to focus on mental health needs so those were discussed by other members
of the Task Force.
It was nice to see Saidy Orellana representing "Pueblo de Dios" Church as its Associate Minister.
Very soon, the Mayor will be sending a Survey so that we can all respond with our
recommendations. I just spoke to her and told her that we will make sure that
all of our members take the time to complete the survey.
Breea Clark (the Mayor) mentioned that a Director of Diversity and Inclusion for
the City will be hired in the near future, also a hire with some of the funding taken from
the NPD.
